SUSAN G. KOMEN® MEMORIAL RENEWS MISSION PARTNERSHIP WITH UNITYPOINT HEALTH—CENTRAL ILLINOIS
& UNVEILS NEW OFFICE LOCATION
AUGUST 12, PEORIA—Susan G. Komen Memorial and UnityPoint Health – Central Illinois are proud to announce the renewal of their Mission Partnership. Through this partnership, UnityPoint Health will play an integral role with signature events hosted by Komen Memorial, including the Circle of Promise Breast Cancer Survivor, Caregiver, & Friends Breakfast, the Komen Peoria & Bloomington/Normal MORE THAN PINK Walks, and the Pink Promise Survivor Fashion Show & Luncheon. Additionally, they will collaborate with other proposed events focused on research and metastatic breast cancer.
“The research and support Susan G. Komen provides and the expert treatment options offered at UnityPoint Health go hand-in-hand,” adds Jeanette Murray, Vice President of Hospital Operations for UnityPoint Health. “With both offices now conveniently located in the UnityPoint Health-Methodist Atrium, women fighting breast cancer have easier access to the support and resources they need and deserve.”
The mission of Susan G. Komen is to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer, a mission that closely parallels that of UnityPoint Health. Aligning with UnityPoint Health’s mission to deliver outstanding healthcare and improve the lives of the people and communities both serve, the organizations will work together to place greater emphasis on women’s breast health by providing enhanced educational and survivorship resources throughout central Illinois.
“Part of this continuing partnership includes the Komen Memorial team relocating into the UnityPoint Health Atrium building. We will have quicker access to local care experts allowing us to more effectively collaborate and educate our community—together—more often, primarily in Peoria and the Bloomington/Normal areas,” shares Susan G. Komen Co-Executive Director, Linda Maricle. “This strategic move also allows for us to host more in-house events, and ultimately, to allocate more funds to the mission and the people we serve,” adds Co-Executive Director, Gayle Young.
